Dr. Dwayne Mercer is a native of Georgia. He is a graduate of Toccoa Falls College (BA); Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div); and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min). After pastoring a church in north Georgia and planting a church outside of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Mercer became the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oviedo, FL (1993). During his tenure the church has grown from 600 to over 2,500 in worship attendance; over 3,500 people have been baptized; and over 90 people have been called into full-time Christian service.
Dr. Mercer is a past president of the Florida Baptist Convention and the Florida Baptist Pastors Conference. He has served on a number of Christian boards and agencies.
In 2001, Dr. Mercer’s passion to spread the Word led him to begin a new national television program – “The Winning Edge.” Its purpose is to “impact people through the passionate teaching of God’s Word.”
Dr. Mercer and his wife, Pam, have three children, all studying for the ministry.
