Our mission is to provide media resources and services which will advance learning about God, stimulate Christian growth, enrich worship experiences and enable the ministry of the members and leaders of First Baptist Oviedo.
To provide and promote the use of wholesome media for reaching, teaching, training and growing persons in Christ.
The quality and relevance of the collection rather than the size.
Serve the missions and goals of the church by caring, training and providing for the users of the Church Library.
Sunday mornings, 9:00–9:30 a.m.; 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Wednesday evenings, 5:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. (may be adjusted in the summer or during school holidays)
The library is located in the Chapel.
Members and regular visitors in good standing may check out up to 4 books at a time for a period of 3 weeks. Videos and DVDs may be checked out for one week. No fines are assessed but we appreciate the return of books on time. If books are overdue, no additional books may be checked out until they are returned.
All materials must be of the best quality and benefit for our members and leaders. Contents of printed and audiovisual titles should be accurate in facts, Scripture interpretation and doctrine. Titles related to religious groups should be objective in content. Titles should be of high literary and technical quality and reflect sound educational methods. Titles should be constructive in influence, morally sound, and free from unchristian attitudes and action.
Gifts to the church library are welcomed and encouraged. Gifts play an important role in the ministry of the media library. Monetary gifts may be in the form of memorials processed through the church financial system as designated offerings. Gifts in the form of media must meet the same standards as new media as stated in the selection policy of the library. The library staff reserves the right to decide whether the gift is needed; if not, it will be donated to another Christian ministry or mission that could benefit.
