Additional Information

Join us as we travel to DeLeon Springs State Park. Native Americans used these springs as long as 6,000 years ago. This spring is rumored to be Ponce DeLeon’s “fountain of youth.” The water is 72 degrees so it probably just freezes your wrinkles.

We will be having breakfast at the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant located in the park. The mill was originally constructed to crush sugar cane using the 16-18 million gallons of water that flows from the spring daily. Each table in the restaurant has a griddle in the center where diners cook their own pancakes. Eggs, breakfast meats, fruit, nuts and chocolate chips are available to accompany your pancakes. All you can eat pancakes are $4.50. Sides range from $1.75 to $2.50. 

After a hearty breakfast you can walk around the spring to a one room museum depicting the history of the area. You are likely to see herons, egrets, and osprey that frequent the springs. 
Come join us for a day of good food, fun and fellowship.

This luncheon will be a very special event for three reasons:

1. It’s Free!
2. We will have an opportunity as a Senior Adult ministry to be part of a group of leaders participating in an EarlyCommitment challenge.
3. It’s Free!

This event will be our special time to hear a word on how we can be a part of the next phase of our Stewardship Campaign. Now that we are enjoying the blessings of the building, we can’t be tempted to think that our responsibilities have ended.

You will not be asked to make a financial commitment at this luncheon. However, you will be asked to prayerfully consider turning in your commitment before October 3. If you would prefer to join us for an evening event later in the week, please call Jim in the church office.

Pre-K through 5th graders are invited to participate in this special art festival. Share how you can "Go the 2nd Mile" in sharing Jesus with others in a drawing, painting or sculpture (clay, legos, etc). All artwork will be displayed in the Worship Center Atrium on September 19.

Fifth Annual Sensational Central Florida Mature Adult Celebration-With a name like the one given to this celebration, you know that it has to be good. This celebration is sponsored and hosted each year by the First Baptist Church of Central Florida (see sensationalseniors.info for more information). The activities of the celebration are designed to entertain, encourage, and invigorate us to be actively engaged in ministry. Scheduled speakers include Dr. James Merritt, Dr. Clayton Cloer, and Ms. Gaye Martin (“an incredible motivational speaker and humorist”). Won’t you join us as we travel to Kennedy Space Center and visit their Visitor Complex. The very last Shuttle launch (Discovery-STS-133) is scheduled for November 1. This is may be your very last chance to view their preparations as this program has been scheduled to end.

We will also go on a guided tour “Discover KSC: Today and Tomorrow”. Per their website, “Tour launch areas with an expert guide. Extra stops include the closest viewing location of the space shuttle launch pads, the Shuttle Landing Facility, a panoramic view of all launch pads from the NASA Causeway and stop outside the Vehicle Assembly Building.”

We will also enjoy lunch at the Visitor Complex so make sure to bring your lunch money. You might want to pick up some mementos from the gift shops as well. I am sure your grandchildren would go wild over some “astronaut ice cream” (its freeze dried) and you might too.

Additional Information

As the daughter of an army colonel, Pam Tebow lived all over the world until she was seventeen. She entered the University of Florida, where she graduated with honors in Journalism and Communications. While in college, Pam met Bob, and they were married in 1971. The Tebows have five children, two sons-in-law, three granddaughters, and one grandson. Each of the children and their spouses are active in various ministries! 
Pam and Bob have been called “homeschool pioneers.” They began homeschooling in 1982, when “homeschool” was not yet a word and homeschooled all five of their children from kindergarten through high school. Pam retired after 24 years of homeschooling, when her last child, Tim, left for college. 
The Tebows lived for a number of years as missionaries in the Philippines, where Bob continues to have an ongoing ministry. He employs 50 nationals and runs an orphanage for 50 orphans. Pam is very involved in her husband’s ministry, coordinating numerous projects and personnel. 
Over the last several years, Pam has enjoyed speaking in many cities across the country. She is currently writing a book on parenting. The notoriety of the Tebow family increased when their youngest son won the Heisman Trophy following his sophomore season with the Florida Gators. Because ESPN aired the portion of the interview with Pam that focused on her refusal to abort “Timmy” when she was advised to do so, she now has a national platform to encourage the pro-life message. Pam is passionate about encouraging women to trust the Lord with all their hearts for all their lives.
