What's Your Status?
Series Summary
According to the latest studies, 1 in 12 people in the entire world has a Facebook account! The concept of Facebook centers around two main ideas. First, it gives people a platform from which to share. Second, it gives people a community to which they can share. Our daily news feeds are filled with the status updates of the people around us. 1 Timothy 4:12 tells students today, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." What's your status? How are you doing in these five areas? Join us over the next five weeks as we take a deeper look into how we can not only be the church of tomorrow, but set the example for the church today!

History shows us that words have tremendous power. Everything from revolutions, to marriage, to the creation of the world are sparked by words. They can just as easily start something negative as they can something positive; so we must focus on the purpose, potential, and power of our words in order to set an example in speech.

We are not saved by following a list of rules, but by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. However, this doesn't mean that we simply live however we want, because we switch our allegiance from serving ourselves to serving God. We ought to serve God with the same level of passion that we had in serving ourselves. This is how we set an example in life.

In John 13:34-35, Jesus says, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Not only are we supposed to be nice to each other, but we are supposed to love one another in such a way that it shows people that we are Christians. Three main ways to accomplish this is through forgiving, serving and encouraging.
