Why is the position of Class Ministry Team (CMT) Leader such a strategic position in our Triangular Offense matrix?
The CMT Leader is the Small Group’s operational leader and will be directly involved with many of the suggested teams your class functions with as mentioned in the New Wineskins DVD. Because we have just one pastor and a few staff ministers, it’s the CMT Leader that will function as the directional leader for the Small Group, enlisting teams as needed to fulfill the group’s vision.
What is the vision?
“Seeing your class roll as a mission field and being committed to the process of spiritual development.”
The goal of each Small Group and the challenge of each CMT Leader is to raise as many class/group members as possible up at least one level of attendance and ministry involvement. That may appear to be a daunting task at first blush, but remember we are going to enlist strategic teams within our group to assist us in the process. Much of what we’ll be doing is not new —we will simply bring laser-sharp focus to the task, involving others who are inclined, shaped or gifted to do these things.
One of the most powerful and enabling teams we will enlist are the “intercessors.” Their job will be to lift up to God the work of our teams and the people we are trying to touch.
One last point—I will be working directly with the CMT Leaders on the front-end to train them and equip them for their ministry. We need people who are available and teachable in this position. We thank God for the ones already enlisted and pray that the Lord of the harvest will call out the rest!
